policy positions
AI Standards Gap — Latin America
Latin America is substantially underrepresented in global AI standards bodies. Avant.Dev advocates for LAC technical community participation in ITU, ISO/IEC JTC1 SC42, and UNESCO AI processes.
Artist Rights in AI Frameworks
Current AI governance frameworks inadequately protect visual artists and creative workers. We advocate for explicit artist resale rights provisions, training data consent mechanisms, and collective management infrastructure in LAC where implementation remains rare.
Epistemic AI / Trustworthy AI
AI systems that distort knowledge, amplify misinformation, or undermine democratic discourse require governance frameworks aligned with human epistemic rights. Multi-stakeholder governance is non-negotiable.
Cultural Economy Infrastructure
Digital infrastructure for the cultural economy — payment systems, IP management, provenance records, artist registries — must be open, interoperable, and equitable. Avant.Dev builds and advocates for this.
